Hindus, you consider Rama as one of your Gods (though mythical). But isn't Ravana a better person than Rama..?

Though Ravana abducted Sita, the wife of Rama, he did not touch her since he would never do it without her consent. But after getting her back from Ravana, Rama did not trust his wife and she had to prove her chastity through fire. If Rama was God of any form, wouldn't he have been able to know his wife was clean?
