My DirectTV is not working, any solutions?

My DirectTV was working fine one day, and then we come home and turn the tv on and the screen is snowy. I tried turning the reciever box off, but it won't turn off unless we unplug it. I tried resetting it but the screen turns blue and says that the DirectTV is starting up but then turns black, and goes snowy again. We have reciever boxes in 3 other rooms and they all work (these are the smaller black reciever boxes) but the one in our living room is the DirectTV plus reciever box. All cables seem fine. I tried unplugging both the tv and reciever box for about an hour and tried again but nothing changed. Any suggestions would help.
