Does he have depression?

Ok, so my boyfriend is a 23 yr old fisherman. Where we live, fisherman work 4 months of the year and draw Employment Insurance (unemployment) for the rest (he's in college so he won't be on it forever). Anyway, being a fisherman means very early mornings, little sleep, not much of a life in the summer. He's always tired, whether or not it's fishing season. Since about Oct of last yr they've been trying to end his EI claim, stating that since he's in school he's no longer entitled to this money. Then in Nov, he injured his knee & had to change his EI claim to unable to work & is waiting knee surgery. This caused him to have no money from Jan until fishing started, around June. The money situation's hard on him because he owes his father money for the time he didnt have any,credit card debt,& his tuition. Since they cut him off, he sleeps almost all day and just isnt the same person he used to be. His mood changes with the drop of a pin. He can be happy 1 min, sad the next.
