Whats the Def. of Pirated as in pirated movies.?

Hey, in the merriam webster dictionary, pirated means to reproduce w/o authorization especially in infringement of copyright. Can some one simplify that for me? and would free online movies that aren't in theaters count? If i watch them? I know if the movie is in theaters then it is but im talking about not in theaters... Like Bolt or 300 or Disaster Movie. Greatly Appreciated!
